With Fall/Winter just around the corner, plus this great "Fallish" weather we've been having had me in the mood to do some shooting. The last couple of days I got the Coyote rifles out of mothballs and made sure they were still zeroed and shooting consistent groups. Not having shot for about 5 months sure brought out my rustiness, but it wasn't to long and I was back in the swing of things. One of my Coyote rifles is my Sako Quad in 22mag. and I'm telling ya, it is a real pleasure to shoot. Anytime you have a 22mag. that will consistently group 5 shots into .5 to .75" at 100yds. it is a real joy to shoot. Altogether I shot 50 rounds of Win. Super X 40gr. hp. and at no time did they groups exceed 3/4" and most were right at the 1/2" mark. Several groups had nice little cloverleafs with all the holes touching each other.Heck, that's hard for my Centerfires to do that good. Anyway, I had a great time and was again reminded just how good the Sako Quads are.

I have a sako quad with a 22 mag barrel and mine does not shoot quite that good. Mine will shoot 1 inch to 1 1/2 half 5 shot groups at 100. I have only tested three or four brands of ammo in it so far so I am not done yet.
I also really like my quad.
You don't happen to have a 17 hmr barrel or a 17m2 barrel do you? I have been wanting one and would like to know how they shoot.

Keep testing Dink, you'll find the one it really likes. What mag. ammo have you tested so far? I have 2 Quads, one I keep in 22mag. and the other in 22lr. I have another 22mag. barrel for the one I keep in 22lr. that I have tried. What little I shot that one in 22mag., it also was getting groups close to the other one. With a few tweaks I believe it will. Both of them really like Win. Super X with the 40gr. bullet. PMC Predator, HMC 40gr.hp, Fiocchi 40gr., the older Rem. 33gr green tipped bullet, and the older Federal with the 30gr. Sierra bullet have shown the best groups in mine, but not as good as the Win. 40gr. Adjusting the trigger and torquing the front action screw to 35 inch lbs. and the rear screw to 30 inch lbs. is all I've done to mine. Oops, that's not true, I also put in a heavier firing pin spring. I don't have any of the 17 cal. rimfire barrels. I thought maybe I'd like to get the 17m2 since the ammo is still pretty reasonable in price. If you don't already have one, the 22lr. will really impress you.

I have tried the winchester 40 grain hp, cci hp, and the remington 33 grain tipped bullet (it hated them). I have adjusted the trigger and retorqued the action screws. I am sure I have not stumbled on the right bullet yet.
I have a 22LR barrel for mine. It shoots really good but will not run with my two kimbers most of the time (its close though). I have tried eley, laupua, cci and federal (maybe a few others) in it. The only time it will out shoot the kimbers is with cci subsonic segmented hollow points it is amazing with those.
I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy one of the 17 caliber barrels.

I have 22 and 17HM2... the HM2 is a laser out to about 150 yards. I was looking at the Lilja barrels but after playing with the factory barrel, I decided to keep my $$.
I haven't yet found a reputable source for mags at a fair price. I have my doubts about Baretta in terms of service as well...time will tell

I have the full Quad system, and all the barrels shoot well. I use the .17HMR the most, and it is stunningly accurate. My nephew has nailed several groundsquirrels at over 170 (lasered) yards with this rifle holding dead on.

Yes, the magazines are a rip-off, but they're cheaper than the 4 shot Anschutz magazines per round!!!!

There is a new one locally I think in 22 rimfire for $399. Is that a pretty decent price? Reviews above sound great.
