Friends,

I have for sale a near-new Gransfors Bruks Outdoor Axe, their newest model (introduced 2010 or maybe late 2009). It's a darn good axe, quite a handy size, but it fulfills a role for which I already use a much-loved vintage Hudson Bay pattern Plumb Victory, so I'm going to sell it and buy a GB Large Splitting Axe. I bought it about a month ago and it's been to the woods only once. It's basically small splitting axe perfection, but I love my Plumb. See here:

GB Outdoor Axe (Ray Mears)

It has a beautifully convexed edge and fairly full cheeks for splitting, and it splits fir like a champ. I used it to split three or four small chunks and that has been the extent of its use. No batonning. I did leather strop the edge but I never used a stone on it. There is a slight dent at the butt of the handle, and the strap on the sheath got a little chewed up somehow. Full disclosure: the sheath is junk anyway and if I were keeping the axe I would make a new one.

Again, this axe is all but new. Price is $160 to your door, a savings of $14 over the new price, not including shipping (and what I paid). For a buyer, I'll even throw in "The Axe Book" which is a nice little book that Gransfors includes with each axe.

I can send better pictures on request.

Thanks,

Dan

If anyone are wondering about these axes, I have 3 GB axes. A big splitting axe, the hunters axe and a felling axe. The quality is 2nd to none. I use the hunters axe on every deer I kill and it goes camping with me also. These are really great tools.

Thanks for the plug, Micky. I almost went the the Hunter's Axe, but it really would have been redundant. Instead I put a Hunter's Axe handle on the aforementioned Plumb.

Apparently the only people who would buy a GB axe, already have one! wink

I balked at the price at first too, but once I had it I understood. Believe me, if this sells I'm marching right down to the hardware store and buying the Large Splitting Axe.

No buyer interest...

Didn't really want to sell anyway...

I'll just save up for the Large Splitting Axe.

Withdrawn!
