Does anyone make a replacement trigger for the Mark X? I have tried to set mine but can't get it lower than 3.5 lbs. safely. powdr

I believe there are around a half dozen or so options as just about everyone makes a mauser trigger, Bold, Dayton, Huber, NECG, Powercustom, Timney, etc. IIRC, the factory Mark10 trigger is designed to adjust between 3 1/2 pounds to 5 pounds. I'd imagine that you would be pushing it going much below the minimum spec. They will never make a match trigger, but everything is there to adjust into outstanding hunting triggers within spec. The aftermarket triggers all adjust below 3 1/2 pounds, some down to 1 1/2 pounds, but some would need a different safety.

I like the old pre-speed cock Mark10s and just completed re-building another last week. The rifle turned out well and the trigger is solid and dependable with a crisp break just under 4 pounds.

The triggers on the Mark X can easily be brought down to 1 1/2 lbs by changing out the springs. They put such stiff springs in those triggers, that without changing them, I can't get a decent trigger. Honing the sear also helps. My mini mauser breaks at 1 1/2 lbs after I worked on it.

I second that Timney. I have a few on various rifles including a Mark X they all work very well and I will buy more.

Thanks

Fred where can I get the springs and is there a trigger out there I can use my side safety on? Does anyone out there have the parts # from Brownell's of the trigger I need? Thanks, powdr

Be aware that none of the aftermarket triggers that I have seen will block the bolt, nor can you use the Mark X safety.

Try Wolff springs?

Cannot speak for the Timney, but the older pre-speed-cock Mark10 factory trigger with side safety does mechanically block and lock the bolt into the closed position and it holds the sear off the trigger. This is why you adjust the sear/trigger engagement with the safety fully to the rear as they are no longer engaged with this safety on. To my knowledge, the aftermarket triggers that have a trigger safety do not do this and merely block the trigger. When properly adjusted, the old Mark10 trigger safety works very well and is heck for stout.

The Timney DOES NOT lock the bolt. Put one on a 25-06 that I eventually sold and the trigger pull adjusted nicely. But lack of the bolt lock function was a big disappoinment.

I completely disassembled the trigger...cleaned and honed it a little.Man was it caked up on all the stuff I couldn't see.It was my first Mark X trigger and was somewhat difficult to understand the concept and order of settings.Cleaned well and put back together I took the trigger down to a safe 2lbs.I like it now and am going to stick with it especially since it withstood all of my tests and I have another action that's like new. Thanks guys for your pointers as they were very helpful. powdr
