Reflective twistie-ties. They take up less space in the kit than push-pins (and don't have sharp points!), are easy to twist onto a twig and also remove, and can be seen from all directions.
They came in handy last year to get to and from, in the dark, an unfamiliar spot I'd scouted in the daytime.
(Put your markers within flashlight distance of each other; place two at any turn or bend, no matter how slight use a couple closely spaced where paths diverge (or converge, since they'll be diverging in the other direction); be sure they are visible from where your eyes will be. I have a couple more hard-learned tips, but I forget them!)
