Hi guys.

I wondered if anyone on this forum is using the Gibbs cartridges. I'm interested in both cases and reloading data for an article I am writing.

I'm also interested in the Mashburn cartridges and info on them.

Thanks
Allan

I shoot a 270 Gibbs and a 25 Gibbs. My godfather also shoots a 30 Gibbs. He killed a giant kodiak in alaska with his.

Linge, I have 80 loads for the .270 Gibbs and I haven't looked at the other Gibbs cartridges.
If you want the data send me a PM listing the cartridges you're researching and I'll send you all the load data.

Gunsmith at work shoots a 30 Gibbs. He uses 300 SAUM load data.

I saw a Mauser 98 in .25 Gibbs at a gunshow today, not
a bad looking rifle, probably made in the 50s or 60s.

I shoot a 6.5 Gibbs. Can send you some cases and load data I've developed. If you're interested PM me.

Many years ago I had a Rem. 700 converted to a switch barrel & added a 7MM Gibbs 24" barrel in addition to the factory 280 barrel. I loaded a 140G. bullet & used 67.5 Grains of 4831 to obtain about 3400FPS. The 7MM Gibbs is the 30-06 blown out & reduced to 7MM. I shot a number of Mule Deer & antelope out to 425 yards with the cartridge. Eventually fire forming cases & zeroing the scope was simply to much work. I reinstalled the 280 barrel & proceeded to shot a lot of big game animals. It was a fun exercise, but not to practical. While the 7MM Gibbs is a dandy deer/antelope caliber it will not do anything several dozen factory calibers will not do as well or better.

The Gibbs cartridges are more than just a blown out parent case like the Ackley cartridges are.
Gibbs pushed the shoulder forward some .200" and reduced neck length around .170".
Unlike the AI cartridges you cannot merely chamber a factory loaded cartridge into a Gibbs chamber and fireform it.

If I was going Gibbs I'd go AI instead.

As I said, I am writing an article about the Gibbs cases, other cartridges might do the job as well. But I'm looking for the Gibbs cases, especially these: .240, .25, .270 and .35.

I got a few Gibbs cases, but are still missing the .25 and .270. Please send a PM if you have some to spare.

Thanks.
