I have a salt wood stock on one i got in a recent trade and I intend to set that wood aside. I will use the rifle in hunting in sometimes wet weather. I like the original stock proportions and feel. I am not looking to go super fancy. An exact replacemetn in non-salt wood would be right up my alley. I am not that fond of synthetics. And dead plain stocks always leave me questioning why I did not spend a few $s more...

A stock for an FN Mauser, Belgian made, with the three step barrel has proven damn hard to find.

Suggestions?

Thanks in adavance.

You could ask a stockmaker to duplicate what you have.

You could use the wood you got, if you Cerakoted the metal.

Search for Art's Gun Shop in Missouri. He is a former Browning 'smith and he has years of experience repairing salt wood damage and replacing salt wood stocks.

Yes, just like that!

WiFowler,

I've talekd to Art's already. They do not do wood replacements but use another guy who is currently tied up.

My brother is having the same issue. This past week he dropped a cased Belgian FN Browning Safari Grade .30-06 in the case and the gun hit the ground just right-- or just wrong as it were-- and the stock shattered straight back from the trigger guard through the wrist. It looks like a real ugly break and I am not at all certain it can be repaired. He probably needs a replacement. Google hasn't been much help.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Might try contacting Larry Caudill in Albuquerque. He has done several stocks for me and can duplicate just about anything you want: ltcaudillcomcast.net, (505) 857-0596.

Some days it takes most of the day for me to do practically nothing...
