the more Xs, the higher the fur felt content...but there's no industry standard for what it means so it's really not very meaningful except to compare between the same maker's hats

Good evening to you as well. Things are busy but well around here. We finally have completed that kitchen reno I was working on when you stopped in. We could actually feed you now if you swing by Redcliff again lol.
Was in the Crowsnest a couple weeks ago fishing with a friend from Maine. Showed him some Grizzly Bears and checked out the Big Horn Sheep at Crowsnest Lake.
Life has been busy for you and your family as well I see.

El Cheapo Straw works just fine for me, that or a good leather cowboy hat, as they hold water pretty darn well. grin

Now the kitchen is done, trouble will likely find me. Good thing hunting season is here.

don't have a picture of it but I also have a fur felt cowboy hat that is made by Cripple Creek that is crushable and has ear flaps, really nice when it's cold.

Damn I was getting pretty fat there ... you don't realize how much weight you've gained sometimes until you see the pics. Good to know I'm now down about 25 lbs from that pic, and still dropping weight on my way back down to about 185 ...

as for the hat debate ... I could take either brand, but prefer the Stetsons. However, I rarely wear a cowboy hat anymore these days ... usually just a boonie of some sort because they are generally smaller in size and I don't have to worry about what happens to it.

Resistol.

Let the games begin.

If its not cold winter, or dress up and it never is cold in my part of Texas except for a few weeks, it calls for a straw hat of some kind. That straw hat has to be something that will not get ruined by getting wet and that can have a really wide brim and good wind resistant chin cords, the hat does no good if you have to hold it on your head with one hand, or chase it around a lot of time. For real use I prefer the palm leaf hats from Sunbody Hats. I have one in the 6 brim and another in 4 brim that looks like most cowboy hats. But they both have the chin cords that keep the hat on my head in the hardest wind.

Sunbody Hats

For dress I have to give the nod to Resistol. After all they have a factory in Garland Texas where you can drive up, try it on and take it home today, with a discount.
