Heck, I have traveled from Hong Kong to Montana to hunt them before. That might be the record. Of course I live in Alabama once again so the milage is not quite that far. :-) TM

Elk = 12 to 42 miles.

Deer hunting is out the back door of Virgils Place on the south side of town.

Black bear is 12 to 42 miles also (depnding).

Mountian Lion = 6 to 66 miles.

Wild Boar 400 miles.

I travel about 45 miles from my home to hunt elk. Takes about an hour usually less. We have a cabin on private land and hunt on BLM and Forest Service land. This year (2004) between six of us we got 5 bulls....3 6pointers and 2 raghorns

If I'm archery hunting I drive about 20 minutes. If i decide to go the rifle route it's about a 4.5hr drive to the western slope in mid november.

2500 miles from central Florida to the Big Belts in Montana. This fall will make it three years in a row driving out, a three day trip each way. The first two trips I flew, but transportation after we got there was a problem as well as getting meat home.

This year I will be hunting in Western Washington and Western Oregon. I suppose I will be driving about 4 hours to the units I have chosen.
