Anybody try any Buffalo Bore 308 Win ammo? Does the 175gr really go out at 3000fps? Experience?

Sure, you don't doubt it do you ? Look at 300 WinMag ballistics and think about it. 3000 fps with a 180 and 77gr of W 780 at 62K PSI !

BB doesn't actually says it does 3K, they just give you a chart to tell you what it would do IF it did.

Hodgdon's HOTTEST 308 175 gr load is:
175 GR. SIE HPBT IMR 4064 2.800"OAL 45.6C 2728 fps 59,500 PSI

That is a compressed load at 60K PSI ..... guess I'll trust the people who make the powder before some small ammo making firm.

If you have an old 700 you don't care about you could tie it to a tire and chrongraph it.

Think about it ..... if they can do it so could Winchester, Remington, Federal etc.. They don't, must be a conspiracy to keeps selling other 30 caliber cartridges eh ?

BTW if you look at the reviews on the BB website they were using an FN semi auto ..... not really a 100K psi rifle!

Roy Gibbs is alive and well!

Sarcasm? Not really understanding what you're saying.
What is your experience with it?

What he's saying is that it's not possible to safely get 3000 fps with a 175 grain bullet out of a .308 case, it just ain't big enough. That would be in the realm of one of the .300 mags.

Kinda like trying to get 3000 fps with a 250 grain bullet out of a .45-70 case. Your gonna break your Dialithium crystals...

A bit of humor intended, in plain English it is BS. I would not want to ever have any "experience" with that king of load. Fill up 222 Remington with Bullseye to make it a 220 Swift and the shooter now called "ole one eye".

Looks a little misleading on their website. Who couldn't post possible/what if ballistics about anything.
"Here's how our 32-20 loads would fly IF we could start them at 5000fps."
Am still seeking comments from anyone with EXPERIENCE with the Buffalo Bore 308 Win load. Actual velocities? Thanks.

3000 fps. Not something I would try in my rifle.

..............308 experience or not and regardless of what powder is used, no way will a 175 grainer get 3000 fps MV from a 308 casing. The 308 casing simply isn`t large enough to hold that much powder, enabling a 175 gr bullet to move at 3 grand from the muzzle.

300 Win factory ammo, which not exactly loaded on the light side, averages from maybe 2930 to 2970 fps from a 24" barrel using a 180 grainer. A 175 gr moving at 3K, pretty much equals 300 Win Mag velocities, which a 308 casing cannot provide.

Is Buffalo Bore correct on their other highly touted loads?
Seems they claim to get alot of speed from everything they load for.
Again, anyone with experience? In any caliber?

I don't think I would try that load. The only experience I have with BB is with their 45 Colt loads. They do what they say they will, according to the chronograph.

Now that's a really accurate way to test ammo !

Why don't you fill that 357 with a compressed load of Bullseye and a 200 grain .360 hard cast. Then you could really experience "thunder"!

Why have a chrongraph when you can have THUNDER!

No wonder Pelosi keeps getting re-elected !

Our 18" Ruger 308 carbine makes a lot more "thunder" than our 300 H&H M-70 Bull Gun with a 28" barrel, so it follows, it must be more powerful.... right?

Where can I purchase a "thunder" meter as my chronograph is clearly obsolete?

This is better than reruns of I Love Lucy !

The Federal High Energy 180 NP ammo went 2,700 fps in one 22" bbl'd 308, and 2,800 in my current 308 Kimber MT.

I'd think to achieve 3,000 fps with 175's a minimum of a 28" barrel would be necessary and some sort of powder technology like the Federal stuff.

Also seems to me if you want a short action 300 Mag the 300 WSM or SAUM is a more sane way to go...

Thanks, Brad.
Nope, not looking for a Short mag and don't really want or expect 3000fps from my 308/175. Just found it curious that BB would list that chart. Sorta makes it look like their stuff develops that speed.
Am plenty happy with 150 NosParts at a little over 2900.

Hi, should have made it clear the Short Mag comment wasn't directed to you, just thinking out loud more or less (grin).

One would think...(grin)

3000fps/175 grain is warm in a 24" 300WSM.
