That is TOTALLY what I was thinking of when I wrote that. Yous guys are kwick. grin

I love that movie.

Well dudes, Grizzly Bill came over to my father in laws today and helped us split a bunch of punky old oak for the fire place.

And yes, he was wearing the Chickenbuck hat. Between the loads of BS that were dealt, we got some work done. I was sitting out by the camp fire for awhile this afternoon and dang near fell asleep it's so nice out. Walked behind the house here and found 4 buck rubs. things are starting to move.

I got a text from Dave a few hours ago and nothing has hit the ground yet at camp.

Finally remembered the name of the movie, "My Cousin Vinny".

Looks like today is the beginning if 6 days of rain. Might see some snow flurries Thursday.

Bill,

on our way to Eau Claire today, we saw a HUGE bear dead on the side of the road about a 1/4 mile east of Stanley. It was a brown phase too.

Interesting Tom. I've not seen a brown phase here in WI, only black. I did see a neat little cinnamon up in Canada years ago and a blond one in Idaho.

Been raining here since yesterday and is supposed to continue all day. I think I'll work on the lanterns for camp today.

its felt like weather moving in the last day or so, I wonder if we're gonna get a little shot of rain or the "S" word. I guess we'll see.

the one and only bear I have ever shot was a brown phase, with 2 white patches on his throat, unfortunately those were cut off when the rug was made. still a really deep brown, like chocolate syrup. I'll probably never shoot another one, this one was a 6-7 year old bruin from the mountains of Colorado, and he tasted very strong!

No "S" word around here. It's too warm. I'm heading to my hunting area north of Duluth on Tuesday to do a little scouting with my BIL. We plan to do a scout/bird hunt but the forecast is for rain all day. I hope it's light rain.

Weather man here says we may get some snow by Halloween though. I could like that a lot. I'd like a bit of snow the Thrusday before season that sticks for about 2 weeks. smile

I'm going up to chickenbuck on the second weekend, but it'll be a short trip. I'll leave here early on Friday morning, like 3 or 4. that should put me up there in time to hunt for a good part of the day until the crew gets there.

I have a meeting with the fire dept. here to become a FF. I went to school for that long, long ago when I was a wee pup. Heck I was just a 18 yo kid. Never followed through with it, but this seems like a good oppertunity.

No deer at camp as of last night. it's pretty warm and the rut hasn't started yet. Not really a lot of reason for them to move around durring the day. This rainy weather might help a bit.

Supposed to be a big front coming in from the Pacific NW on Tuesday. Lots of rain and very high winds. They're talking wind gusts up to 50 MPH. Should be coming thru the Mnpls area too.
