is there any nuances to annealing plated cases i should be aware of?

currently, i anneal by watching the color of the brass... when i anneal the plated cases, is it correct to assume i will not be able to do it that way?

thanks for any insight!

Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It is much more important than that.

You definitely cannot watch the color on nickel plated cases.

I have done the old method of heat with a torch until you can't hold any longer and then drop into water.

I think your best bet here would be to locate and utilize temp sticks.

Work in a nearly darkened room, and heat until you just see the neck/shoulder just start to glow dull red, and then drop it in the water.
