I've been using the old blue EZ sabots sold with the Knight branded TMZ 250s in my Omega with 110grn of BH209 and CCI209Ms. I ran low and had to purchase more this year, but couldn't find the blue saboted(EZ) Knight bullets anywhere on the net. I ordered 48 of the yellow saboted 250 TMZ BTs from Barnes and have no complaints about the accuracy, they actually shoot a tad better groups than the blue knight sabots. The problem is you damn near need a sledge hammer to get the darn things down the pipe. I have multiple sabots for 50 cal, but none take a BT design. Anyone know if the blue TMZ BT sabots are still made?

Thanks!

I just bought 2 bubble packs of 250 TEZ and they have the blue sabot. I would imagine MMP makes them for them .

I've tried a few. The 'easy-glide' types were to loose. The H crush-rib types are a middle ground sabot. The black ones that come with the SST/Shockwave bullets are more snug but still quite loadable. This has been with a .451 bullet in my Knight. I just added some Hornady black sabots to a Midway order to jacket some extra bullets I have.

I've tried regular sabots by MMP but they don't seem to work well with the BT design.

The TEZ is a flat base if I'm not mistaken. The old Knight TMZs had a sabot made for the BT design.

I would just switch to the TEZ, but prefer the BT. Sighted 1.75" high at 100, I'm only 2" low at 200. That goes against Barnes' BC claim, but I can't argue with the paper. This is the flattest MLer bullet I've ever tried. At only 2115fps avg, it is much flatter than my Savage ML10 with 250 and 300grn SSTs at 2400 and 2200 fps.

May have to call MMP and see if they made the Knight TMZ BT sabots.

Thanks,

I don't do much muzzleloader shooting but have this same issue; any ideas on a replacement sabot that would enable me to load these TMZ bullets?

Call Barnes and ask them about buying the blue sabots directly from them. That's what I did a few years ago.

The Blue Sabot is for the TEZ flat base. The Boat tail will not shoot well in these.Try calling MMP and Harvester to see if they have another option for the Boat tail.

Samson805, They made Blue "EZ" sabots for the TMZ BT as well when Knight was selling the TMZ BT under their name. A little smaller dia than the yellow BT sabots and much easier to load.

The newer blue sabots are indeed for the flat base.

If those are too loose for anyone, you may want to try the HPH12 sabots from MMP.

Have a good one,

Guys,

I pulled some of the blue sabots out of a couple of boxes - these were the boxes with the 250 grain TMZ and the 245 grain Spitfire. Both have "New EZ load sabot" on the box. All of the blue sabots have flat walls on the inside of the sabot, i.e. they don't taper to fit a boattail bullet...

Don't know if the same sabot works with both the TMZ and the TEZ - I haven't bought any of the TEZ to compare since I've got a small stash of the TMZ and the 245 grain Spitfires...

I'll shoot some pics later if desired.

Thanks for the update KM, I have a few blues left from the Knight boxes in my Mler box, so I'll take another look. I'm almost positive they have a taper at the base starting below the petals. Could be wrong for sure, I'll mike one this eve.

I double checked the boxes = they are Knight boxes from when Knight sold the Barnes bullets in Knight packaging. Labeled PBT for the tipped and PBS for the spitfire, they are the Ultimate Slam series.

However, the blue sabots do have several rings around the base on the underside of the sabot, I think this was when they designed it to handle 150 grains of pellets, but I'm not sure.

That's probably them KM. The wall of the Ultimate Slam sabots that I have measure .025" thicker at the bottom of the cup. You can see the flare at the bottom of the cup under the petals, but it's not real noticable.

Knight still shows them packaged with their Boat tails but does not show them for sale seperately.
