Years ago I wanted to play bass, so I traded off a sweet 1967 Marlin 336SC in .35 Remington with a Redfield 4x scope for a sweet Fender P-bass and amp. I never killed anything with the .35, but I always dreamed of comparing it to the smackdown my 1894 44mag hits with. Anyway, my huntin' and shootin' skills far exceed my music skills, so the P-bass and amp are gone (at least they funded my BCM AR-15 project).

As we all know, prerusing the forum classifieds and auction sites is pretty dangerous, so it was inevitable that a new case of the wants would set in. And here it is: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=197398529 I sat on it for 4 days, but it got the best of me. I called the shop and they graciously worked with me on the price. I still paid on the high end, but it just seems like a unique rifle me and the boys will enjoy.

My 2yr and 4yr old boys will enjoy growing up shooting it and hunting with it, and I know they'll dig the engraving too. I probably will make it more of a stand gun than a brush gun, but it'll be good just to have the heavy hitter back in the arsenal.

...on earth as it is in Texas.

It's getting harder and harder to find a 336 in 35 Remington especially one in excellent condition at a reasonable price.

GB has a handful of them from time to time but finding one locally has been a challenge.

A "shooter" 336SC 35 sold on GB a few days ago for 225,
I figured it would go for 350 easy, but...

TXpitdog,
I'm not normally a fan of carving away on a gun stock after the fact but that looks cool! Whoever did that did a fine job. Hope it shoots as good as it looks!

Love the carving. I'd never get rid of it if I had it.
