I have a M70 push feed with a well worn in smooth action and McMillan stock. It has a Leupy 3.5-10x40 with a B&C reticle.
It has been a 7x57 and 25-06 but right now it is wearing a well balanced #2 Benchmark barrel in .270 Win. very accurate and useful.

Which one seems to do everything well?
I've got a faux Ti 7-08 that isn't the most accurate, or flattest shooting rifle I've had. But it seems to do most everything I ask it to very well. Seems to be a good jack of all trades, master of none. ..................Don`t have what I consider to be "the" most useful rifle. My defintion of the most useful rifle happens to be the one which will best handle the needs of any given particular hunt ie; terrain, game, average shooting distances and so on. Depends on a few things. In thicker brush, timbers, short to medium ranges along with long range capability for hogs, deer, black bear, elk if needed, then my fast `n handy 300 WSM Ruger Frontier carbine thumper would get that call. For big bears, bison, moose, all of which my above carbine could handle ok, my 375 Ruger Alaskan would get that nod. For flatter shooting and longer ranged more open country shots on any big game on the planet with the exception of African dangerous game, my 338-378 Wby Accumark would then be called upon. All three can overlap each other. Which one I choose for any given hunt will depend on a few things.

My '06 probably wins in theory, but in actuality my M7, formerly a 7-08 and now a .358, is my most useful rifle. At least for deer. When it's time to kill something, I grab that one.
For elk my Montana .325 wins easily.
The CENTER will hold.

I'd have to say my favorite to hunt with is 700 Sendro 25-06 Zeiss 3-10*44 . If its hike I'm toting either 700 243win in a HS precision or fwt 243win .

For Texas Hunting, it's my Kimber 84 in 257 Roberts. Good for varmints, predators, deer, pronghorn and hogs.

I have quite a few guns that have accumulated over the years, but I've always been partial to the .30-06 and .375 H&H Mag. My favorite '2-gun battery' to handle everythign from coyote/varmints to the largest dangerous game is shown below. If for some reason I had to clear out my inventory of firearms, and could only keep 2 rifles for all my current and future hunting requirements, these are the 2 I would keep...
