i don't know if I made the right decision on this one. Just put a deposit on a 1899 savage 250/3000 rifle. Serial is 1812xx built in 1916. Has a perch belly stock but had been drilled for a swivel. Checkering a little worn but nice figure to the wood. High p[olish metal (whats left of it) barrel about 80% , reciever about 60%. All matching numbers , looks all original. Bore needs a good cleaning. Heres the bad part , bubba had but a small nut & boly through the front integral sight , not original sight blade. Also has wrong machine screw on the front of the take down snap lock. I believe the gun can be cleaned up to look presentable. Its costing me 500.

you'll be all right... just get the stuff fixed. The 250 deluxe are very desirable guns and are one of my favorite looking of all of the standard 99s!

They probably used the front latch screw to hold the front sling swivel. The faults you describe aren't serious and can be remedied. Sounds like you got a good deal. Pics?
