Just a guess, Woods......400-450 pounds????

Killed one here in East Texas that went just a touch over 500 and it looked a lot like that one except black with a longer head and more "Russian" profile overall.

Just for clarification, that is not a hog I shot. It was supposedly shot in South Texas, no other information but I would guess it is close to 1000 pounds. Hogs are amazingly dense and heavy. This is the typical size I shoot and it weighed 210 pounds (on a hanging fairly accurate scale)

Rick, 500 pounds is a large hog, about like shooting a B&C whitetail. The pic of the large hog was mostly for humor. Even with a 500 pound hog I would like to have my 375 Ruger in hand as they can be hard to kill.

Seems there's a trend nowadays for the serious hog killers to go this route...

Used to be some AR10's in 358Win. ONe could be re-bored to that from a 308 with ease as well. That would be an ideal package for the cited purposes and parameters.

Great ideas guys. I think I am going to drop the idea of going silenced/sub-sonic. The loss of energy and range is just too much.

Pretty cool video, shooting hogs at night with thermal optics. Even more interesting (to me) is the coyote trying to catch a little pig at about 27 seconds into it.

The 7600 30-06 carbine is a great hog smacker.

I've used a Savage 99 in 308 often.

Any standard is fine (270, 280, 30-06, 35 whelen, 308, 7-08, etc.).

I guess one of the reasons I like little guns for pigs is that we shoot a bunch of these too...
