Dang, I got a week left to go, before I head out to Missouri for their rifle season. It's gonna be a long wait, too, but like you guys, I get to visit with family and friends and do a lot of BSing and might even shoot a deer. I leave next Thursday, EARLY, and it takes about nine hours to get there. I guess I can manage the wait.

Man you guys are at a fever pitch.I sincerely wish you all the very best of luck and success this weekend.
Grizzly Bill, the Siamese Mauser was a success after I got all of the bugs worked out.Only problem was that it was so bulky and heavy that it would have been delegated to just being a range rifle and that's not what I was after. It was accurate and with my handloads I could hit a golf ball at 100 yards.I had a gent make me an offer I couldn't refuse and it now resides in California.I still get great accuracy out of the Handi rifle in 45/70 and in fact just got new glasses on that critter.I'm now after a Marlin guide gun in 45/70 unported.
I did recently add another Handi rifle to the group. It's a Talo edition "Trapper" in .44 magnum with an 18" barrel.Still getting it sorted out but it is doing great. It's a neat little rifle with plenty of punch and is a neat "mate" to the Ruger super Redhawk pistol that I'm deer hunting with mostly.
I'm considering cleaning a bunch of rifles out and just get a Contender G2 with several barrels. One of course would be in 45/70.
Welcome to all the new posters.Chickenbuck is a fun place to be.One day I hope to get up there for a visit.Meanwhile I wear my Chickenbuck hat when hunting here in South Carolina.I recommend that all of the readers here get Dave to order you hats. They are neat.

Nice. From what I have heard the last few years from relatives that hunt WI, you're lucky you got 'em before the wolves did.

I did a rattling sequence at 7:50, about 5 minutes later i noticed him slinking up the down wind side of the ridge looking for the source. I knew right away that i was going to shoot this buck, and thats when the old heart started thumpin, he milled around behind cover. He started to bugger as the wind shifted and i had one little gap i could shoot through but he was at 5 yards facing me, luckily i was 30ft up and had an angle on his heart. I practice shots like this on tomatoes all summer long and it paid off because i center punched the heart and he ran 60 yards before rear;n up and doin a back flip darn near.... soo in the spirit of this thread, here i am, smilin like heck :-D

Great to hear from you Stan. Is your schedule going to allow you to hit the woods this fall?

Talk to y'all soon. I have a feeling it's going to be a good week.

Stan, thanks for the update. The Ruger #1S was really shooting well yesterday. All the holes were touching one another. I know what you mean about heavy though. I've never wieghed the Ruger but at the end of the day it feels like it weighs a ton.

Great buck Coop. Jackson county has produced some great bucks over the years. Have you ever stopped at Moe's Hardware in Black River Falls? They have one heck of a gun selection and deal well also. Bought my Tikka from them back in January.

ran into some trouble yesterday when I was shooting, I swapped rings with my 243 to my 260 because my windage was WAY off, now the 260 is dead on, but the 243's windage is WAY off. not really happy with that, I know it has to be the rings, and they are ruger factory rings. only bad set I've ever had.
