Am taking my spouse along on a hunt for the first time. Am really looking forward to it. We'll fly from Wash Dulles during the first week of August and spend two weeks in Namibia with Nick and Isabel Nolte near Omaruru. Delightful couple with whom I hunted with my son in '08. Really comfortable bungalow-based camp.
Plan is to take it easy and do some things besides hunt. We'll spend one night in Etosha park, two nights at Swakomund on the coast, and a night in Windhoek. I will be on the look out for a kudu larger than 55" and gemsbok north of 36", my largest of each to date. Nick also has huge warthog in the area which are always fun.
Still trying to decide on a rifle(s) for the trip. Think I have narrowed it down to my little Beretta golden sable O/U in 30-06 which is a true MOA rifle in spite of two barrels and my .318 Westley Richards express. It is not the most accurate rifle in the safe, but it has the nostalgia thing going on in spades.
I think she might be starting to get into the idea a bit. She came in from Tyson's with a couple of bags of khaki-colored things earlier this week. Though not a hunter, she did grow up on a ranch in Kansas, so the big Namibian cattle stations will be interesting.
Should be fun.

O/U? Let's see, Kudu, Gemsbok and Warthog, three trophies. I guess you will have to reload once. No Problem. Good Luck, keep us informed.

RedLeg,
I will be leaving the Nolte's as you arrive. I am doing a a leopard/plainsgame hunt, bringing my wife and daughter.
I think we're doing some of the same stuff as you - Etosha and Swakopmund. Best of luck on your hunt!

You as well Brant. If you have never been there before, Nick and Isabel are simply delightful people. And I suspect Nick knows more about hunting leopards than any man in Southern Africa.
I was there with my son in '08, and took a cat the second to last night. Fabulous experience. If you don't have Hartman Zebra on your to do list, you might consider it. You'll spend some serious time climbing in some amazing terrain.

Joe Nick does know more about hunting leopards than any man in Southern Africa. He's a great bloke, who also makes a great braai!
