I saw a clean but used (90%?) pre-safety Mountie at a gunshow for $525 out the door. Good deal or not?

For a 90% Mountie, thats on the high side. They are out there cheaper but you have to take your time and keep looking. I got one a few years back in 100% condition, unfired without the box and hang tags for $225 shipped. Not something you run into often, but it keeps you looking.

Thanks, I thought it was a tad high, but then again, that's about what a new 39A costs and I'd rather have the old mountie, 22 barrels don't wear out unless you let 'em rust. I'll see that dealer again this weekend, I think I'll offer him $450

Unfortunately, I am forced to deal with a major oil boom in this area, thus there are NO bargains to be had. Economy is way strong here. But, about two months ago, a local dealer got in two Golden 39M's from a small collection. One is probably 98-99%, the other about 95%. Both were marked at $499.99. I jumped on both of them without hesitation. Mounties and 39M's just don't show up every day in my neighborhood, and I wanted them! Around here anyway, what one could have paid a few years ago for a particular piece, is totally irrelevant to what they will command today. I understand that in some areas bargains are to be had, as the economy is bad, and people are forced to sell their treasured firearms cheaply. Not here. YMMV.
