deerhunter,
I just mailed off a Lilja RemMtn to get put on a Ti action. It'll be 22". The issue is balance, IMO. Edge stocks are light, and are best served with a 22" BBL. The 22" barrel is also great when you are hiking up and down mountains with the rifle slung across you back. A 24" barrels does a great job of catching branches, logs, etc.. Pretty much agree with Calvin. I've got a KS in 270 & while I love the rifle & won't cut it to 22", it's best for open country work & I'd probably love it even more at 22". Maybe someday. I got & have had several Rem MR's in Ti stocks & orignal Ti's & they are really just about as good as it gets, especially in timber & even for ease of getting out of a rifle scabbard in a hurry. I like the KS stock better than the Ti & I understand that McM is making that pattern again now for general consumption.........that design in Edge construction would be perfect. The wrist is thinner than the B&C Ti stock & that's a personal preference that I have. JMHO MM

Barrels ranging from 22-24". Ti barrels to #4 Lilja. My favorite of the bunch is a regular old Ti bbl'd action, put in an Edge. 3rd from the bottom is a #1 Lilja, cut to 23". 4th from the bottom is a 24" Pac Nor, duping MR. Too long. I'm cutting it down to 22". How about a list of the stocks too if you get a minute?

...... My favorite of the bunch is a regular old Ti bbl'd action, put in an Edge. I agree with Calvin and Montana Man......have had a slew of 24" and 22" 270's. I find the 22" feel just enough "better",to me,than the 24". As to delivered velocities being faster in the 24",that is a very firm "maybe".I've seen some 22" barrels that were faster than some 24's with the same load. The "internals" of the barrel have more to do with delivered velocity than barrel length with the 270. Besides, once you have a 130-270 doing 3100 fps, getting 3200 doesn't do much for you. My choice would be a Krieger or Brux FW or #1. I would not hesitate in the least to take a Rem MR or ti barreled action in 270,factory contour ,and drop in an Edge.Pretty hard to improve on that.I know this because I have done it.

The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

Any problems mounting a 2.5x8 leupold on the .270? What triger is the most rugged or bullet proof? Anyone change the firing pin out?

EDMHUNTER:Have to ask someone else on the trigger....the one's I've used were just the stock Rem trigger, tuned. One of them is still going since the 1980's or thereabouts, after heavy use. It's in a Brown stock.
Should be no problem with the 2.5-8 using the right mounts.I like Ken's Dednutz in the rifle above.

A 22 inch bbl is all you need for a 270--that keeps the weight down and makes it sooo much more compact when squirming through the timber.
Blind box magazine makes it lighter and simpler.
1/2 inch Decellerator, or better yet a flip-flop pad (will McM subtract an amount from the cost of a Edge if you delete the recoil pad?)

If the factory trigger can be adjusted to a nice pull, leave it. Only change out the firing pin if it's a j-lock. Casey

MM I run Weaver bases with Zee rings, so a guy can just flip the front and or rear mount around and they work great for me. Weaver also makes a slightly extended base for that application too (but you probably already know that) I used to know the Weaver numbers for M700's, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment......
