Cool - I don't even know what they look like. Just blessed with good genetics, and great weightlifting partners. (did beat the non - tested record as well, though)

Was the meet tested for roids? Just curious.

Drug tested. Overkill double poly shirt. I've held world records for about 7 - 8 years now. This is a big one.

Great job bender. That's an incredible amount of weight. How does the shirt work? I've always lifted with whatever I was wearing, which may account for the elbow problems.

Great job bender. That's an incredible amount of weight. How does the shirt work? I've always lifted with whatever I was wearing, which may account for the elbow problems. The shirt compresses everything from the waist to the neck, and is sewn so that it pulls your shoulders toward each other over your chest. It gives you a mechanical advantage over those who don't wear one. There's a squatting suit that is an absolute biotch to get into, then you have two gnomes (teammates that aren't lifting that meet) wrap your knees so tight you have to walk like Frankenstein to get to the bar. If you dont lift fairly rapidly you start losing feeling in your lower extremities. The suit, again, provides a mechanical advantage, especially at the bottom of the squat, when you reach parallel, and start back up.

Actually, an open back shirt like I use, is only tight in the arms and across the chest. The lift cannot be compared to a raw lift, as the stresses on the ol' bod are MUCH greater, and as you said, the mechanical aspect changes the importance of other muscle groups. I like the gnome analogy! That is exactly what I feel like stuffing my 6'2", 310 pound pard into his suit. It is actually a lot like a pit crew. Nobody uses gear like this on their own - it is a team effort, and I have a great team! I once tore a quad on a 565 pound bench. Leg drive is extremely important.

Awesome, but man will you pay later on. Power lifting is hell on your joints and your health in general. I wish I hadn't done all the power lifting I did.At 17 yrs old I could bench 450,squat 650 and dealift 650 at 180 lbs, what does it do for me now?? Nothing.. I'm only 38 and have this perspective.
1 and done

At 55, my joints are probably in as good, or better condition than most guys my age. The injuries I have had were, for the most part, not lifting related. Gymnastics really is hard on the bod, and I was a pretty fair ring specialist back in the day. I can thank gymnastics for a broken back. Properly fitting gear, in combination with good form, keeps you pretty healthy. I also don't really train very hard.

Congratulations! Very impressive.
