I've found one for sale and have no idea whether or not it's worth what he's asking. Here's the description. "22 long rifle K frame 5 screw revolver serial number 6711xx. Has 6 inch pinned barrel with slight bulge 1 1/2 inches in front of cylinder, recessed cylinder, and humpback hammer. Finish is rough with some pitting." And the pic. I doctored the pic with Camedia Master and couldn't find any sign of a buldge so I called the seller. He said it is very faint and nearly rings the barrel less than an inch ahead of the frame. He also said it was barely discernible in the bore. I know absolutely nothing about the K22. What do y'all think this might be worth?

Google Smith & Wesson Forums.
Pre-war K-22 is usually a $1000 + gun in good condition. The "Humpback" hammer on this gun adds a premium.
Outside condition is poor on your gun, but you could have a great shooter if it is tight.
Grips are not original to your gun.
I own a K-22 with a slight ring in the barrel and it shoots very well.

Real world prices for pre-war K22's are much less than $1000. Even in very good condition I have seen them for sale locally for between $500 and $600.
I would not waste money on the gun in the picture.

Well, I did a check on GB completed auctions and I don't see m'self going $349+shipping on this one. I started out looking for something cheap to shoot packrats with and came across a K22 in near mint condition for $425. Went to log in and buy it only to find someone else had bought it while I logged in. Such is life.

If you're looking for a good/cheap, whatever "cheap" is, 22 revolver, watch for a deal on the Rossi 511 or 518 or the High Standard Sentinel.
The Rossis are S&W clones that are functional and stainless. I will agree that the insides are a little rougher than the "real" S&Ws, but I've carried mine a lot, shot them a lot, and they have never let me down.

A beat-up K-22 with a ringed bore is a $200 gun IF you have just the right project in mind for it.

If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

I have S&W 17s, 18s, 48s, and a 617 that seldom see the light of day, so a beater/project handgun is about the last thing on my bucket list.

I'd pass on this one. It's just to beat up and not original. For the price I think you can find much better.

Hello I surmise a collector will buy this K-22 simply for the Very Rare Hump Back Hammer that it has. It was not often seen on early Outdoorsman series K-22's in the rim fire design that it is.
