Savage makes a nice little rifle called the 11 BTH it's a satin blued bolt action. Brown laminated thumbhole stock also satin finished, hinged floorplate, accu trigger, 1 in 9" twist barrel in .223, 22" barrel, 6.75 lbs.

They also make it in .204, 22-250, 243 and 308 in short actions.

You need a 220 swift to ND. If a guy could just find one of those odd buggers.... whistle
Oh and a 204 as well. Tightest patterns of any gun I own. Well, even with the 22-250AI I guess. They'll both shoot a 5 shot pattern that you can't poke a pencil thru without ripping the paper.

COME ON SNOW!!!!!! Ole Yeller.. er..... Ole Blue.... Um would it be Ole Green now??? Any way, Ole Holey needs some exercise!!!

I have a 220 swift, a ruger M77 standard walnut/blued with a Burris FFII 3-9 40 B-plex on it.

I haven't had much time to play with that one. I've left it bone stock so far because I want to record accuracy the way it is then again after free float, bedding & a trigger job.

But I'd trade 2 or 3 of those for that Winchester model 54 in 220 swift you have, you dirty bugger!! grin

I'm looking in disbelief at the pictures of all the snow there.I just returned from three days of deer hunting down in the lower part of South Carolina.Got no deer cause the combination of full moon and warm weather makes for poor daytime movement. We were in T shirts except early in the morning when a sweat shirt was more than enough. The 1100 acre lease has a lot of fields and we rode at night and the eyes lighting up in the fields were like stars in the sky.Monday morning I had a small doe in front of the ground blind at about 40 yards on a corn pile(legal in low country)for about 20 minutes. No challenge with the .308 so I passed on her.Next day I went in with the .44 magnum pistol hoping to see her again but no luck.It was loads of fun riding around all over in a Rhino and a really neat Japanese mini truck with 4WD.It ain't about what you kill as much as it is about just getting out.
Dave, the old truck looks tough in a tough kind of way.
I got a new 45/70 "Trapper" Handi rifle and we shot it some.Really neat and very accurate.Brantley's 11 year old son got a large charge out of using it to shoot a half gallon milk jug full of frozen water and watching it literally explode.Kid'll be grinning for a week.
A very heart felt Happy Thasnksgiving to all Chickenbuckers.
Incidentally I wore my Camp CB hat the whole time.

The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa.

45/70,it's almost a religion.

If you have to take a second shot then you probably shouldn't have taken the first shot.

Good report Stan, I agree it is about getting out there with friends & family & making memories, we must have over a foot of snow now and it's falling hard probably through the night.

It was snowing pretty good here earlier but it turned to sleet. Don't sound like we are going to get the hard winds we were going to get.

Not sure. I'll be there and my oldest boy will be there, most likely campfire member "backwoodsbrian" will be there with his new T/C pro hunter encore.

other than that I guess who ever braves the storm is welcome.

grin
