Thanks Bob, I think everyone should own a "riflemans" rifle in the classic old 30-06 chambering. I had been wanting one of these for a long time and as luck would have it, it kind of fell into my lap one day smile. I'd like to have a few more like this one, but as you know the next rifle I buy will be a new extreme weather. Take care, bsa.

I have to say my M77 tang safety 338 winmag is the go to rifle that always does the job. Before it as in up to 1983 it was a M38 husqvarna 6.5x55 that was used all the time for everything from rabbits to big bear. I 2008 I bought a Tikka T3 in 30-06 and in spite of myself, I am begining to reach for it first. It comes to shoulder, and fires as if it were activated by my mind. I am as comfortable with it in 2 years as I am with my 338 after 27 years.

Even though as I said at the beginning, my go to hunting rifle is my Sako 338, when it comes to passion the savage 99 wins my heart. Just that they didn't make anything pre-mil in a caliber that would do what I ask of the 338.

Remington 600..favorite is the .350 Magnum but any will get the job done. Just very well balanced and comes right to the shoulder. Only wish I had bought one years befoe I did...

My go to rifle is a CZ550 American in 30-06. This rifle has been modified with a front sight and the backup peep sight it carries in small pouch, also fitted with a synthetic stock shortened to 13 1/8 inch length of pull. The rifle has a Leupold FXII in 4X mounted with Warne detachable rings. Though this is not my most accurate rifle averaging 1.5 inches with Federal 180 gr. Nosler Partition, it kills very well and comes to the shoulder quickly and efficiently. I like the fact that it can be easily maintained and kept shooting with simple tools and a few spare parts. It has been to Africa with me and hopefully will be there again in the not too distant future.

Had it for several years but no more. Early 90's vintage Remington 700 BDL full-factory camo in 7mm-08. Free-floated it and then bedded the stock and for whatever reason it would hold 5 rounds in the magazine after that. Painted up a Leupold M8 6x42mm to match, mounted with dual dovetails. Consistent 5/8" groups with 140 gr Nos BT. Hunted and bumped around including a couple falls and whatever else for years with absolutely no change of impact. Wasn't some primo stock but more favorable than a SPS. It was a comfortable, lightweight, confidence inspiring rifle I have missed. Occasionally see long actions like it for sale but as yet never another 7mm-08.

Quite a few individual cartridges and rifles have been of interest for me, but the one single rifle/cartridge combination that grabs me every single time is my 1949 Brno Model 21 in 7x57........it rings bells and pushes buttons I never even knew I had!

That rifle has seen some good honest use. Out in this country I sure haven't seen many rifles with double triggers. What lbs. or oz's is your fire trigger set at?

That old Brno was the favored rifle and cartridge combo of Gordon Alford. Gordon used 150gn Partitions and hunted a life time with it.

A rifle that feels like part of me is my 94/22. If we're talking fav. CF rifle, prob Remmy 243AI.
