For the 3rd year in a row, we've leased a piece of property in N.W. Missouri that the farmer promised to plant.
1st year = excuse, it was too wet and too late in the year to get planted. Yet everyone around him planted and got their crops out.
2nd year = excuse, it was too wet and fields didn't get prepared to plant. Yet, again, everyone around him planted and though it was wet and they had to wait to get crops out they still got them out later.
This year = excuse, excuse, excuse! Too wet and then crusted over and got too dry. Couldn't plant.
I'm DONE... I've given this guy the benefit of the doubt and my hard earned money for 3 years in a row and he's not planted anything.
If one thing I've learned it's that if you don't have good crop land, especially corn, with a mixture of cover you really don't have jack'diddly'squat in the mid west.
Looking for a new place in either Missouri but more likely in Western Kentucky.

You didn't first find that out when you arrived, did ya? The third time around, there would have been seeds in the ground before he would have gotten my cheddar if the expectation was food plots for the hunt.

It's supposed to be a agricultural operation and I guess we're just too nice or maybe too stupid to see the light of truth of how this fella was running his land. It's nothing more than an insurance scam on his part to get money for failed crops of which he's not planting so I'm not sure how they failed when they didn't exist to start with.

Well, I feel for ya man. Did you at least see some deer? Does and 4 tiny bucks. Sat all day Sat, Sun, Mon, and had to cut my trip short mid day Tues b/c my ATV got stole back home and I needed to go tend to that. My buddy killed a 9 point that was around 115 to 120" but that was by far the biggest thing seen during rifle season.

Don't have to plant crops when folks from Georgia send you money every year to pay bills with, I guess.

I've been on leases since 1998. I too am fed up with empty promises and projections. The land owner says there's a 8, 10 & 12 pointer over there but we're not gonna shoot those, they're "conservation deer". Hmmm, I thunk they was Whitetails. Next lease it was, "Only take 5 year olds." O.k, where are those deer?
I'm not a lease manager or biologist. I paid my money to hunt and take the "projected" trophies. I'm done as well.
Prefer to spend the money doing activities with my wife.
