Baseless internet rumor.
Go to the NF /H&R website.
No belted magnum centerfire chamberings are listed.

Excellent and very accurate rifles. The rimmed cartridges work best.

Another painfully slow to reload and terminally ugly gun..... why? Not slow to reload or ugly, I guess it's subjective. These are good guns, the two I have easily out shoot my Ruger #1's in the same calibers.

I guess they are as quick to reload as most other single shots but not near as quick as a bolt or other type action.
As for looks to each their own but I would have to say that they are one of teh ugliest, most homely looking gun made. But then again they are made to be a cheap gun and for that they do a good job.

This was discussed on Graybeard a year or so ago on the NEF forum. Supposedly, NEF was planning on doing it, but found the action was stressed too much and shelved the plan. The back thrust from the larger magnum case was just too much for their break action design.

Actually it wasn't a problem with the action. The problem was they couldn't get enough pre-orders from dealers. The Handi can handle the .454 Casul and the .500S&W. It can handle the magnums too.

swampie, that's not quite accurate. the two pistol cartridges you mentioned are not even in the same room as the big rifle magnums when it comes to pressure and back thrust.

Believe me the .454, .500S&W, and the .45-120 loaded to .458 Winchester levels show that the Handi can take more than you can. The back thrust on the pistol cartridges may be even greater due to the fact that there's less surface for the chamber to grip when the cartridge is fired. I believe the .454 Casul and .460S&W operate at at least 65,000 psi. The guys on GBO have shot all these in their Handis.
