Thank you, Chris. I appreciated the lesson without having to cough up tuition money. grin

Interestingly I saw a 63 from 22-250 stopped by a deers neck, whitetail down here, about 180 pounds live weight... it broke the neck but made it no further... shot in the side of the neck.... Just moved him over to TSX and no issues since. I shot a LOT of hogs with the 63 though and never had an issue. Could have been a one of a kind thing.

I've learned a lot less for a lot more... Consider that coinage growing pains.

And Dan and Art, no I ain't talking about the Rifles Inc. I ain't shot it yet... Doc says no for a few more months.

A lightweight 22-250 doesn't seem to be an all bad thing. I think it could become something very handy, even if midweights would be fired from it. Tickets seem cheap enough, if one were to get lucky and win. Cause is certainly worthy...

Yeah, but I don't need no fish slime on my rifle, you've fondled it enough. Be gone with you... grin

Actually, one of those Mexi Mausers Art has, we are guessing (because it isn't stamped) might be in that chambering. And, it has my name on it. So you just keep your grubby mitts off of it. Of course, if you want the barrel, I expect it is a good 'un and will sell it to you for a price!!! The action is destined to become what it was supposed to be, a 7x57.

That will be the next Soldotna Equestrian Association rifle raffle. We can't sell tickets until 2011 unfortunately.

That's not too far off though!

Hell, three more weeks and we start to gain daylight! smile

I may be on the wrong side of half full/half empty here, but I am reminded that we are losing every one of those days until then. frown (Yeah, the sky is getting that distinct twilight indigo before 4 already.)

But I could see the tickets being "sold" before they ever go on sale......will you take U owe me's?

We limit the number of tickets to 250. One of our board members sells a chitload at work on the slope - about 1/3+. I'll have maybe 20 tickets to sell.

As DPhillips said *Cause is certainly worthy...*. Of course I agree! smile

SEA is a nonprofit and the proceeds go toward grounds improvement. The raffles have already paid for a John Deere tractor and we just bought an arena rake. By "rake" I don't mean some rebar welded onto pipe. smile

CDI offer a DMB for the tikka that solves the OAL issue and allows one to run 5 or 10 round AI mags. Rath

Have it your way, then. Just trying to help! grin

You don't know what you're missing, by the way, fish slime attracts animals and gives you at least another 50fps. I saw it in a cartoon once, so I'm pretty sure it's true....

What barrel twist rate would one recommend for a 22-250 if one want to shoot the heavier bullets?
