Tried this in the gunsmtih forum, let's see if I can do better here.

I want to "smooth out" the steel on a couple of the gravel blasted M700 ADL matte rifles.

What size and type of media do you guys prefer? What orifice size on the gun tip would you recommend?

Thanks in advance,
Casey

I don't have an answer for you , but, if you don't find what your looking for here , try giving Kempfeld customs a call. He does that and is a nice guy and may be willing to tell you what he uses.

you will need to 'flatten' the coarse finish (i.e. polish smooth) before blasting with a finer grit. 120 and 40-50 psi makes a pretty good finish

Try 270 - 320 mesh glass beads; 3/16 nozzle.

Free Miner is right. You will need to polish out some of the roughness before blasting with some 270-320 beads. I like to blast at between 70-90psi.

Thanks guys.

Locally, all I've found is 80 mesh beads, can any of you point me to a place for the 270-320 mesh beads?

Extra Fine Glass Beads

This stuff is roughly .002"-.004" in diameter & should work for you.
