I had a 270 wsm I loved dearly... After hanging around here long enough I had a desire for a .257 wby and decided to have one built. They are awesome!

I had a beautiful Sako 25-06 that shot like a dream and sold it because I thought the barrel was too short!..think it was 21"
Get one, you'll love it...and get the 35 Rem also..life is too short!

Your missing the point. It doesn't matter why. You want and can have it so get it...You are shortening your lifespan with all that stress...my 2 cents. (which is all I got for Christmas spending on my wife)

I had all 3 calibers and sold the 25-06. The 25-05 is kind of like a redheaded bastid child to me. It's to big and loud for varmints, OK for deer sized animals and smaller than I prefer for larger game.
I see no need or use if you already have a 243 & 270

get rid of the 270 and get a 6.5-06 and satisfy the need for both of them.
its more than OK for deer, I've killed elk with a 25-06, bang flop one shot

I think you have your needs and your wants confused with each other. It is just plain nature to wonder what makes something better then something else. The .243 is a military round and not really designed for deer hunting.
The .270 was designed for deer hunting.
The only advantage I can see of having a 25-06 over a .243 is that is has more power and a slightly larger bullet. It's your choice which rifle works best for you. If you can afford it, you could buy one try it and then if you couldn't afford it, sell which one displeases you the most. More then likely the .243 will be the one to go down the road.

just shoot the 270 ,130-140grn for deer. loaded down to 100-110grn the 270 is a excellent varmint caliber and will reach out a get them.

A round being used for hunting has more to do with the bullet loaded into the round then the round design. What military uses the 243?
Whatever a 7x57 can do a 270 can do better.

I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

I'm thinking Douchebeer just got himself a new handle.. Not so sure...this was just a statement made with no knowledge of the subject. Douche Queen Beer does that too, with with an azzholish slant to it...

Daniel,I forgot to welcome you..so welcome..Pard there's lots of quick sand round these parts so I would highly advise that you speak intelligently or you'll be up to the tail of your coonskin cap really fast..So far sounds like most of us have had our first cup of coffee but you may not be so lucky in the future.

The only problem I see with wanting a couple new guns is being a "GUN LUNEY" then we would't be here, talking about it. Buy, shoot, sell keep the cycle going.
