mrb you are spot on...it is quite a read. I reread parts ocassionally when I need my spirits lifted.
That Tucker looks like a mini version of our tractors. I'm sure it's going to be a hit at LOW....:)

I've had quite a situation befall me, tomorrow a partner and I are headed to SE New Mexico for an Elk Hunt on lands adjacent to the Mescalero Reservation near Alamogordo. This all came together last Friday so talk about last minute...lol. I don't have a clue what to expect except it's decent weather and moderate country and I really need a dose of both. On the way back I am stopping at our kids place at Fort Sill for Christmas so its a double winner. I hope to have stories and pics to share when I get back, which should be sometime after Christmas.

Scott

I was purusing CL tonight and found some hunting land that I'm very interested in...even the wifey seemed 1/2 way into it. I didn't get a "NO."

I need to start my new job first I think. I don't think hunting land is going to move too quickly right now.

It's south of Duluth, not really where I was thinking of buying property but...

[quote=northern_dave Thanks so much for the nice words. The campfire forums here have been very useful for me over the years when researching various topics. I often just post a question out there looking for input and opinions and wow, you can always find a couple actual experts for every topic here.

I hope you stick around & rub elbows a bit. Welcome to the campfire.

Thanks for the warm welcome ND, I will keep following the thread, so much excitment! Vintage cars, old trucks, guns, dogs, ice shacks and the "THING".

I did! Bought a nice 99C in .308 with a 4-7 x 32 tasco made in japan, carries real nice and shoots good too (well it shoots way better than I do!). I have always had a soft spot for lever actions. Probably from watching westerns when I was a kid, really loved the Rifleman. Particularly loved the look of old marlins with a scope, pulled out of a saddle scabbard. I didn't know much about levers or the 99 when I started looking for a rifle, but through the power of the internet found out about the 99, the rest is history. Love it!

A nice 99 is one of the only things remaining on my rifles to buy list.

No hurry tho.
