I bought a pair of vintage Glenfield 30-30's off the board here for my kids when they get old enough. I mounted a 4x weaver on one of them and took it out to the range for a test with some factory ammo. 3 shots at 25 got it dialed in and then I shot three at 100 and walked up to find this(I even had a marginal rest on the first shot).

There's no arguing about the accuracy of a Marlin. I prefer the aesthetics and handling of a Winchester M94 over the Marlin, but, as I've said before, there are undeniable advantages to the Marlin design, and I've always gotten better accuracy from them.

Wow, If it was my kid I'm not sure he/she would get the Marlin.

Yes, Marlin makes a mighty fine lever gun.
Managed to break the extractor recently in mine, but it's an old rifle with a lot of miles on it and rounds through it.

The reason I have Winchesters because of the name and model number. I own Marlins because how good they shoot and price.

I actually like the feel of the Glenfields much better than the regular Model 336 although I gave mine to one of my daughters. They seem to be much slimmer and trimmer. Thanks...Bill.
