I hope I didn't miss any rules, or that I am entering this post in the wrong location. Hello! I'm Bert Wallace. I am new to the board and fairly new Savage 99 Owner. I have been a gun guy for many years, and a fan of Savage Arms in general. My ex-father-in-law has a Model 99 in .308, I liked it from the first time I pulled the trigger and worked the action. I work in law enforcement, and have been doing so for 25 years. I am an NRA fireams instructor (Handgun, Shotgun, Patrol Rifle). I have two model 99's in .300 Savage. My son and I use them for deer and hog hunting. He and I have both become very fond of the rifles. I do not know much about them and have many "new guy" questions. I will not bombard all of you with them at one time, but I would like to know about books on the subject and dates of manfacture, etc. My first knowledge of the Savage 99 was from reading the story of the Mad Trapper of Rat River many many years ago. I hope to be of some help and I hope to learn more about the venerable 99. Oh Yeah! I posted a pic in the "Name with a face post"

Can find Murray's on Amazon also, sold by a company called Aurora Books or similar. That's for those of us who refuse to work with Paypal.

Murray's book is a must-have. Not exactly a bible, but closer than any other.

you'll learn most right here around the 'fire.
