<br>The week started out with very good fishing. The bass where moving on a pre-spawn and you could find these fish on the inside sparse grass. Flukes and worms were doing a great job on the fish. Then Pow!...Mother Nature said hold it, I�m here. Tuesday and Wednesday were very cold and just shut the fish down. Water temperature dropped to low 50�s. I did manage to catch a few fish with shiners on South Steer Beach. On Friday afternoon, fishing started to improve with a few fish on the outside grass line on the South side edge of South Steer Beach. They were hitting gold rattle traps and worms red shad in color. On Saturday, fishing shiners, we wound up with 10 fish. They weighed from 3 to 8 pounds and while some where aggressive on the bait, others were not. Also the fish that I caught last week had a lot of roe in them. The fish I got Saturday did not.

<br>Now the water is warming up. I believe there is going to be a major pre-spawn and you will have the best bass fishing around for the next month or so. I will keep you abreast of the fishing patterns as the spawn begins.

<br>At this time of year, catch and release is very important. The bass are staging to look to make beds and spawn. So when you catch a fish, handle it as little as possible and release it where you catch it. Don�t carry it all day in your livewell. The less stress you can give it the better.
