....darn,wish i had wished this wish while wish'n on my wish-list.....

recently....and finally....marlin announced the chambering of the 22-250 in the X7....
in a heavy barrel 22" XS7 version.

my wish is....should have been.....that they reconsider and make 2 diff applications..

#1- 24" heavy barrel XL7 for varmint shooting (prairie dogs, woodchucks, crows)
#2- 22" std barrel XL7 for predators (coyotes,bobcats,fox)

both with 1 in 9" twist (hence the long action for seating those longer heavier bullets).....and the appropriate throating....tho i could get really greedy and wish for 1 in 12" for the heavy barrel and 1 in 9" for the std barrel.

varmint shooting is usually done off a rest of some type-portable table, bags across the hood, bipod and not far from your vehicle...the extra weight in the barrel isn't a factor and the heat from rapid firing is dissipated better.

predator calling normally involves walking some distances from your vehicle across all types of terrain, through snow, climbing over fences (reason for the standard weight barrel) and the 22" barrel is more convenient for swinging on that unexpected close charging coyote or when your squirm yourself back into brushy areas.

just wishin'.....
maybe next xmas......
or a mcgowen barrel....

oops....wrong forum....please relocate to best arena
