Ok right off I'm not a lever guy. I found a Marlin 30AW in one of my safes last year that I have no idea how I got it, don't remember buying it. Maybe one of my employees traded it to me for a cash advance and I forgot about it.

Anyway the metal is in great shape, gold trigger etc...the stock is birch and has a lot of wear from possibly riding in a scabbard on a 4 wheeler etc...Looks like it hasn't been shot much at all.

Anyway the stock I would like to replace, just from looking online it looks like the regular 336 stock with the barrel band and not a cap like some models. So can I put a 336 stock or order a semi inlet and make it fit?

Second it needs new sights in the worst way. Look at receiver sights and the williams some of them say holes are needed on the side of the reciever. On mine I have a spring button with 2 drilled and tapped holes below it horizontal to each other..is that what I am looking for. Any other suggestions on sights and/or what Williams model works best - their website leaves a little to be desired if your not familar with their products.

I'd like to get it restocked, new sights and maybe shoot it a little.

Yes those two holes on the left are the taped holes for the Williams Foolproof sight. Brownell's # 962-200-002AC

Williams also makes a WGRS-336 //Brownell's # 962-000-019AC//
This receiver sight uses the two rearend scope base holes.
I use this one since it is alot cleaner, but a little harder to adjust.

As for the stocks you can also get factory new walnut from Brownell's also but there out now. Probably because of the factory move.

Thanks for the info on the sight. Really rather go with a rough stock rougly inletted I can shape and finish. Looking around I found a few on the internet.

I really don't have any use for the gun but I sure don't like it the way it is.

I've got the FP sight that goes in the scope base hole on one of mine, but I prefer the reqular side mount one. The one in the scope base holes put the sight a little farther back crowding access to the hammer. Not real bad, but worse than the side mount one.
