I've been looking for a peep for my 99F. Marbel's are all I've seen and they are a little pricey for me. Since somebody already "ruined" my 99 by D&Ting it is there a peep I can stick in the scope mount holes to get the job done? I've got several scoped rifles, so I'm not really wanting to throw a scope on it.

williams makes one that fits the later factory d&t. Should work for you and alot less $$ than marbles. Check with midwayusa.com

The area of 99 sights is one where you get what you pay for. Save your nickels and get a good steel Lyman or Redfield if your heart is set on a receiver sight. Or save up for a vintage Lyman or Marbles tang sight. In the end you'll be glad you did. I never saw any kind of receiver sight that attached in lieu of a rear scope base that had any kind of meaningful adjustment to it, but that's not to say they're not out there.

If you can mount a weaver base on the rifle, you can put an X-S sight on the base. http://www.xssights.com/store/rifle.html

A Lyman 57SB mounts in the rear scope holes. Not that hard to find, either. It's a solid sight.

Looks like if I'm patient I can find a Lyman or Redfield for a decent price. I've got a while till hunting season, so I'll just be patient.

Thanks for the help.

MH, Also recommend you give Ken Bean a call, (717) 755-9070. He has a sight sales business in York, PA and if he doesn't have what you need on hand, he can be on the lookout for you.

If you have a Model 99 F, believe they were all D&T from the factory. If you have the (much older) 1899F carbine, then we all commiserate with you regarding the extra holes.

Nothing wrong w/Williams FP reciever sights...I've used them for years without a hitch. Them steel Redfields/Lymans are heavy bastards.

The 1920's 99F was NOT factory d&t, Don overlooked that version. Really wish they hadn't had 3 different models all named F.
