A couple years ago, I purchased a T/C Triumph on clearance. I was shooting an Encore, and loved it, but it was my main hunting rifle, and I wanted a "muzzle only" gun, so I wanted something as close to the Encore as possible.

I like everything about the muzzleloader, except the fact that the shockwaves that I use are extremely difficult to get down the tube, unlike the Encore. I mean, like bending my ramrod even after running a swab down. I had to pound the dang bullet down this past season when I had to make my first follow up shot (777 residue).

So, my question is, what are you others using for bullets? I already want to try the BH stuff for next year after reading other posts.

Before I go out and buy a bunch of different sabots, I thought I would ask here.

I am using the yellow t/c shockwaves, 250gr.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

joe

Try some jb bore paste. or you might have use super glide sabots or harvester short black sabots.Bullets are fine it's just a tight bore and to thick of a sabot. Good luck

I have a T/C Triumph Bone collector and I use the 250 Shockwaves and Hornady 250's. I have absolutely no problems loading. I do use BH 209. No issues loading at all even with no cleaning between shots. I have shot 5 shots in a row whitout cleaning and no issues.

I also use the yellow 250-gr shockwaves in a Triumph and have no issues. They've always seated a bit snugly, but not to the point that it's an issue. The only modification I've made is to swap out the ramrod for one with a power handle, which is a bit more user-friendly. Sounds like an overly tight bore. You might contact TC and see what they have to say. I'd be interested in their response.

Jolintaxidermy,

The T/C bores range from .499 to .502 and yours is on the tight
side. Some shooters have experimented with the Harvester sabots
to find one that can be loaded with out bending the ramrod.

Have you tried the 200 gr. shock wave? Having more plastic in the sabot than hard bullet since its a .40 caliber bullet may cure your tennis elbow.

I will assure you the 200 gr shock wave will put the smack down on deer.

Mine likes the TC EZ Glides, but it can still be a struggle. I had been using 777 pellets, and last year tried BH. It made loading a little easier.

I gave away my Barnes copper solids. I could load a clean barrel with a range rod, but a reload in the field was too rough.

I tried the Harvester and got poor accuracy out of my barrel.

Bore butter helps too.

I have not tried the 200 grainers yet, but will try that.

The thing that bothers me is that it is quite difficult to get one down after it is clean and lubed with a bit of oil. Luckily last year, I just needed one shot, but this year, I didnt see my buck fall, so I reloaded, and near bent the ram rod (a power rod at that).

I am thinking about contacting T/C, because I love the 250 shockwaves. But, maybe I will test the 200's first and see how that goes.

I also read online that Hornady has a EZ sabot, or something like that.

Thanks for your help guys. I will be playing with it a little after the snow stops flying.

Here is a pic of the buck I got with it this year. Not the biggest for IA, but not bad either...
