I've got a couple of rifle's with blued metal that I would like to put some type of weather proof type coating on in matte grey color. I would like to put it on myself. I've seen some different kind's that are spray on then bake and just spray on one's. What have you used and how did it work? Thank's for your time.

Plus one on ceracoat. I try to talk all my customers into it unless they want a blued finish.

I like KG Gunkote and use Mac's Restorations/Mac's Shootin Irons. Another good one for Cerakote or KG is Glenrock Blue. They cerakoted a rifle for me awhile back and did a first rate job.

I am biased because he has done several guns for me, but Birdsong's teflon coating is second to none. He has contracts with the FBI, military and Smith/Wesson just to name a few.

I could say the same thing about Robar companies Rogard and NP3 finish. Lots of military and LE stuff with these finishes. If you like the color, the NP3 finish is really awesome because it also has some degree of lubrication built in. That said, I had my last rifle Cerakoted by Ultra bore coat or whatever they are called now. They do great work and are good to work with as well.
