I just called Toyota to schedule a trans. fluid change. Service dude asked how many miles and I said 76K. He said well we don't recomend one until 100K. I kinda still wanted to do it anyway. He said "you're welcome to, but Toyota covers that transmission to 100K on that vehicle so I'd save your money." I know a lot of guys that give me guff for buying that truck, but man it's been good right from the start, and so has every Toyota dealer I've been to. I am going to change it at 90-95K though to work the kinks out if there are any before 100K. Shoulda bought a standard.

Grizzly Bill, Retirement ain't just great,it's WONDERFUL!! If I had known it was this great I would have retired before I did. We just booked a week long cruise to Key West and the Bahamas in April.
Stan in SC Your right Stan! Safe travels Ryan. My dear wife just gave me a project. Strip the wallpaper and repaint my daughters old room. The pattern layer came off easy, it's the glue backing that is a pain.

ND, after I hit a black angus cow on the highway at night with my jeep grand cherokee, I put on an aftermarket ARB bumper that is solid steel and weighs around 500#. They make them for a bunch of vehicles and I highly recommend them. You might need heavier front shocks though. They must work too since I haven't hit either a deer or cow with that vehicle since I put it on!

Gotta another LOW snot rocket report tonight. Big ones are hitting hard!
I was also told that they are completley out of big suckers in warroad and that you can no longer bring your own frozen smelt or cisco's for bait due to some disease. The only thing you can use is the frozen herring they sell in warroad.
Is this true?

Sounds like something the bait store in Warroad would make up.

There is something to the frozen bait rules new this year that actually is true.
It's more on the lines of "certified baits" though.
They need to be processed in a certain way in order to kill what ever it is they are afraid of.
Basically what it means is you can't net your own smelt, freeze them and bring them up for bait. I'm pretty sure that anything you buy at the bait store is proccessed correctly because it's a MN law, not just a LOW thing.
The HSO guys are talking a lot about herring. Frozen herring, I even read where someone mentioned a market (grocery) place where he buys herring and they claim it can't be beat on LOW for pike.
Check it out skippy, locate some herring and bring it on up.
As I said it's something with the smelt that's specific to lake superior that they don't want spreading to other lakes. Smelt from superior that's proccessed with alcohol and or borax (the way I understand it) is perfectly legal. I'm assuming most flat packs of frozen smelt you can buy are proccessed this way anyways.
Keep your bag or bait label handy in case you get checked.
Or use a bait that isn't on the ban list, herring isn't native to the area so if you can find some you should be good to go, besides, they say it works awesome.

I used grocrey store smelt with good success on Island Lake, Fish Lake, and the St. Louis river. I don't know why it wouldn't work on LOW.
I used it in open water. Let sit on the bottom with a circle hook and a big weight 1/2-3/4 oz on the lake, 1oz on the river, and heavy duty bobber. Norhterns couldn't resist it. I don't remember cathing anything small with that tactic.
