I am a Winchester guy who has been shooting a Marlin and a BLR most recently. I am interested in getting a Winchester Big Bore and have heard all the horror stories of how unreliable and poorly made they are right now. But, for $300 it's not much of a risk. Do any of you have Black Shadows in .444? If so, what do you think? Is the stock too light for the recoil? Is the action smooth and strong? My other option is to find better stocks for my Guide Gun and stay with it. I think the forearm is too thick and the buttstock is too short. Has anyone done any modifications there. Thanks.
