Well a 336CS in 35 Rem found its way to me.
Great shape, nice stock, metal/finish is fine. Changed out the scope and went with see thru weaver mounts and an old 6x Leupold.
Question - The lever has some play in it, not rattling loose but loose (lateral at the pivot). Is there a way to adjust that (torque the lever screw?)?
BTW - shoots 200gr Rem psp out of the box just fine at 50y and 100y. Adjusted the irons to dead on at 50y and same with the optics. Shoots just a bit up at 100y (preference) with that zero.
Thanks

My '48 model does the same and is very accurate. I think that's just the way they are. I wouldn't worry about it. You know about removing the lever assembly and pulling the bolt out the back so you can clean from the breech?

I compared the 83' with a newer 336, same type lateral play. I had another 336 that I do not recall the same amount of play.
Yes, have the bolt removal steps. Thanks.

Fall seven times, stand up eight.

With 200gr Rem psp, zero at 50y on the scope and iron sights, at 100y POI is 1.5" high with POA in the black 10 ring. Using a 4x scope, not expecting hole in hole accuracy, just minute of deer.
Most of hunting shots are between 50y and 100y, so that works just fine.

The lever pivots on a shoulder screw. Over tightening the screw will not pull the ears in on the lever.

.
The more loose a Marlin is the better it shoots. Many accurate Marlins have lost the fine accuracy when everything is tightened. I like them loose and shooting.
