Well this is probably a Campfire felony, but I copied these posts from another site where Mr. McMillan has been known to hang around a little, I think it speaks volumes to his character, and I don't think there has ever been a problem with one of his stocks that HE couldn't solve, got to get the man on the phone...........

Kelly,
If I were in your business I'd be prooud of a custom part delivered in 6 weeks too.
I just don't want/need to wait that long.

Undude,
Custom knife ( carbon blade or hammered steel) Make my own. Weeekend. Would you like ivory or Elk horn for the grip?
Year for a scope..........got me there.......4 years and waiting with no firm date ever available.
1-5 years for a pistol. Nope, weekend............shoot with a bunch of high master guys who build nice custom units whilst I wait.
3 month 5 years for a rifle.............only if you have zero mechanical skills, believe all the BS that good rifles take that long and live in the city.

Sorry guys, grew up on the farm................do most all of this myself minus the stock making
unless it's wood then I do that pretty damn well.....................I'm just that rare exception
you occasionally run into out here in the woods.

Kelly.............seriously.............your stuff is Ok in my book.

I never said the McM wasnt worth what they are asking but considering I have 2 rifles that shoot better than I can in HS stocks I am going to save my 700 plus dollars and spend it on reloading supplies and match fees . If I ever get the chance to build a rifle from the ground up I will assuredly use a McM but until then us "Poor Folk" will make do with what I have and can afford .

I actually had myself worked up to selling my stock and replacing it with a McM but in the end just couldnt justify it .

Michael, I'll make you a deal. I'll send you an A-5. You put it on your rifle and see how it shoots as a drop-in. Take it apart put it back together clean it, do whatever you want to with it. Take notes and let the Hide know what you find out. When your done, send the entire rifle to me and I'll bed it and send it back. I'll even put you at the front of the list as "advertising and promotion" and should be able to get it back to you within 2-3 weeks. Sorry, shipping will take a few days each way. When you get it back put it through the same rigors you did the drop-in stock and we'll see what you find out. Let everyone hear know, be it good or bad. And for your troubles, I'll let you keep the stock.
What about?

I think CAS got ahold of a bad receptionist...I wouldn't want to be her when Mr McMillan finds out the real story...

Who knows what she told Mr. McMillan to get the "Tough [bleep]" response out of him...maybe she was trying to cover her own mistakes...

Well, I just got off the horn with Kelly, and I am still SOL.

Basically Kelly told me that their manufacturing process won't allow them to make a stock any faster, and I have to wait just like everyone else.

Now both Dick and Kelly have told me that there is nothing they can do, so I am basically screwed. Kelly said that they'd try and get it done as fast as possible, but if my stock misses the inletting run, then I have to wait for the next one, and it will likely be 8 to 10 weeks.

To be fair, he did offer to paint the stocks at no charge, but my guy wants no part of that.

I think I've just gone past pissed on this matter. Trust me, I am going to call weekly to make sure the order is right.

Wow, bummer...

I'm not trying to rub salt in your wounds, but I do still think Kelly and crew are good people, even if they made a mistake, I know I've made some dandies...

I wish I could help you, but all my stuff looks like it's been to battle and back a few times.

For those of you who don't remember, I had to return 2 out of the 3 stocks they built me in the last 2 years.

While they may be good people, it appears they have room to improve their business skills........Second generation, maybe they don't need to$$$$

I sent a barreled action to McMillan a couple years ago for a stock and bedding. I wasn't too worried about it until 6 months had passed an I hadn't heard anything. I contacted Lynn and she said that she had the barreled action sitting in her office and she didn't know what the status was. I think it was set aside and forgotten. Well, 6 months after that i finally got my gun. They did a fine job but a year for a stock and bedding is more than I'll wait again.

I agree, I ordered a finished Marksman through Lynn a few months ago. It came in last week and although everything is right it is the poorest gel coat finish I have ever seen. I will now have to paint it for the customer, which is thankfully my cousin, but he wants it next week for a pd hunt. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Every company has issues.

McMillan makes the best stocks on the planet. Period.

I'll ride that horse, even when it bucks.

I've owned more than a few McMillan stocks and have never had a problem of any kind with them but I haven't ordered one in a couple years. This may be a new problem...

Explanation:

Just because there is a frenzy of crying on the internet, doesn't mean a guy has to believe it.

If a guy wants his stock bad enough to cry in public, then why wait 6 months to make a 2 minute phone call to confirm progress ?

I'm not disputing that Charley had a problem, nor implying that he did anything wrong. Not all of my McMillan orders have gone well, but they've always fixed things.

I'm just saying that even with a few hiccups now and then, McMillan rules the roost in my opinion, and I will continue to buy them for myself and sell them.
