Accurate powder company was originally from Tennessee. They imported a line of spherical and extruded powders from fast pistol through shotgun and into slow rifle uses. Good stuff, all. BUT, they also had a philosophy of using whatever maker could provide a kind of powder at the lowest cost. At various times, a given powder might have been made in Israel, South Africa, the Czech Republic, Belgium or elsewhere. Supposedly, the powder was made to the same recipe and specifications, but it didn't always turn out that way - obviously.
So depending on who made your current bottle, your sample of Accurate #2 (as one example) might be faster or slower, more or less dense, or even a different color. A load that worked well before might be over maximum with the new lot, or you had to use a different measure to get the same weight. Lots of reloaders gave up on the whole product line out of distrust.
When Western Powders bought the line, they dropped or changed some powders (to my great disappointment) but at least kept some of the more popular varieties. Now, they say they've standardized the production of the remaining line. That's a good thing.
As to what powders are best for a given use, I'll simply refer you
