Someone wants to gift you with a Zeiss Diavari Victory T FL 4-16x50 II (turret) OR a Swarovski Z6 3-18x50 BT (turret).

Which would you choose? You MUST pick one or the other! No Leupold as an alternative <GRIN>.

Pick one, and say why.

Assuming I'd want the scope for longrange work, probably the Zeiss if it has standard Mil turrets...

The Swarovski system is a fix for a problem that doesn't really exist and is really only any good for medium distance work..

All things being equal, what would you pick? The swarovski turret can be used as any other turret.

Both are bigger and heavier than I would prefer, but since I've never laid eyes on either one, I can give you an opinion untainted by mere personal experience. :-D I would take the Swarovski Z6.

My "reasons":

1) The Swarovski is about 5 oz lighter

2) The Swarovski has significantly wider FOV at its lowest power - almost 40 ft at 100 yd vs less than 30 feet for the Zeiss, while also having a higher top power

3) The Swarovski has a slightly longer eye relief

On the other hand if the Zeiss had a reticle that I really wanted and was not available on the Swarovski, I could live with the Zeiss.

So what do I win?

I would take the Zeiss over the Swaro because the Zeiss will return to zero if you crank it up for a long shot and the Swaro will struggle returning to zero after the shot.
