Anyone have one of these? How do you like it? I'm thinking of picking one up for an Alaskan brown bear hunt.

If it is used - I would have the trigger checked.

As Chuck Hawks sez - it is just one step above a plain old SPS rifle and not as nice as a BDL and in his opinion - you would be better off with a pre 1980 style model 700 rifle - which is also my opinion.

You can buy anything that you want - it is your money.
They all go bang I would think when you pull the trigger and will pretty much hit anything you aim it at - for a couple of hundred yards.

I bought one in 280 about a month ago, have to throw a scope and rings on it and try it out. Seems like a nice gun. What cartridge do you plan on using?

Chuck Hawks is clueless, this is about a well made gun as any old or new remington I have ever owned and I have owned a ton of them.

I'm planning to get one in 375 H&H for Alaskan brown bear. It'll do as an elk rifle as well shooting 250g Swift A-Frames at 2800 fps. As far as the trigger is concerned, I'll take it to my gunsmith. I like my triggers at 2 1/2 lbs even on my 500 Jeffery. I found one on sale for $699. I think I may jump on it.

There was a regular XCR at Gander mountain on closeout that was chambered in 375 and it was not even at that price. 699 just buy it. grin

Nice thing about that rifle is it is not overly heavy for lugging around the Elk Woods either.
