we are thinking of going down in march sometime.
fil, has a place just outta brownsville, gotta ask the exact place,, and we have no idea where to go or what to do... ??

we're thinking maybe just inshore, or maybe surf ? or casting from shore, or maybe renting a boat for inshore fishing.
i'd like to go out offshore, but we'll see how $ plays out.

so what's biting in march down that way ?

I've fished the Mansfield jetties but never in march. you can drive up the beach to the jetties about 25 miles up from s. padre. best to use a 4x4. you can catch reds and black drum in march . the drum run is uasually the end of Feb beginning of march. back in 80 we fished the Mansfield channel and caught 65 drum smallest being 25# caught over 6000#s of fish all together that trip.on warm days the flats in the laguana madre should be good for specks and reds. offshore is always a good bet weather permitting.water might still be a bit cold for surf fishing if you plan on wading out in the surf just be careful of rip currents is the surf is high.
