Jack Stack and Arthur Bryants are both well thought of bbq joints in KC.

Will Jenny's at 135th and Metcalf was pretty good, Texas themed bar and grill.

I live about 20 minutes away, right over the state line in Missouri, and know quite a few places in that area.

Will Jenny's is good. They have one of the best brisket sandwiches I have ever had. Just east of Metcalf on 135th St.

Gates and Sons BBQ is just north of I 435 on State Line. One of my favorite BBQ stops.

J Alexanders on Metcalf at about 115th is really good. Best carrot cake I have ever had.

Let me know what kind of price range you are looking at, and I'll see if I can come up w/ some more ideas for ya.

I believe Jump 'n Catfish, in Olathe, is mandatory.

I don't know if it's all that good, but that's where the sales guys took me as soon as they found out I'd never been.

Forget Arthur Bryants. Oklahoma Joe's is it, located at 47th and Mission Road. There is another one in Olathe but I don't know the address. Pretty reasonable for what it is. Long line on the weekends, maybe not so much in Olathe.

For seafood the Bristol on 119th St is pretty good since you are out south. It's a bit upscale.

I'll think of some others

For breakfast, First Watch is pretty good. Multiple locations.

Mex...Mi Ranchito, multiple locations.

Lots of good places in Olathe 119th/Strang Line area, not far from you.

Don't go to Joe's Crab Shack, AKA "the spoiled fish joint", in Olatha, but the $15 All-You-Can-Eat catfish at Jumpin' Catfish is OK. If you like German food, Grunaur is really, really good. If you like steak or prime rib, it is hard to beat Hereford House. I get a cholesterol spike just thinking about how good a rare piece of Hereford House prime rib would taste!Benton's, at the top of the Westin at Crown Center, has a really, really nice Sunday brunch from 10AM to 2PM. Go early, go hungry, stay for awhile.

Make your way out to Jess and Jims Steakhouse. You won't regret it. For a cool roadhouse menu try Strouds for pan-fried chicken and all the fixin's. And get the T-shirt, "We Choke Our Own Chickens" if it's still available.

Oklahoma Joes in olathe is by Tractor Supply on 119th and Strang line

There's a Joe Crab shack, Hooters, and nice Italian joint as well.

Bass pro is on 119th and I-35, just west of those.
Cabelas is on 435 and State line -, take I-35 north, go west on 435.

** Long horn stakehouse is right infront of Bass pro - all good

Not sure about freestate - but there's a half decent micro brewery downtown.

Boulevard Brewer.. google it

Wheat or pale ale is good stuff.

K&M barbaque in Spring hill is awsome, it's down 69 hwy, then take a left where it says spring hill - there's only one main drag road.

People travel for that place.
