Well fellas, here's the story. I bought this gun about 2 years ago, RIG'd it and put it in the safe. I didn't notice a tiny tang crack or the crack in the wrist or I would have sent it back to the seller. So I'm stuck with a high dollar POS. Sorry about this

Sounds like for what you have in it it would make sense to send the stock off to one of the pros and have it repaired. The good ones make those flaws pretty much disappear. Might put a smile back...

It would be pretty ironic if Billy wrote back that the screwdriver slipped while he was taking the buttplate off..... wink

A small pearl of wisdom:...always remove the Lyman style tang sight before removing a buttstock...those sight bases do bend.

OUCH! That hurts, I would think the stock would give before the sight base bent, but either/both would SUCK!

Can we see pics. of T? & I'm with Mike, get a pro to do the stock repair. -TomT

Billy, is your safe humidity controlled? Could it be that the T spent it's life in humid conditions down there in FL, then got the shock of it's life (so to speak) when stored in a dry safe? That could explain why you didn't see the cracks until now. Just thinking out loud.

NOW you tell me about first removing the tang sight, Jed. grin I learned that lesson the hard way 4 hunting seasons ago. I managed to weasel the stock off-and-on without removing the 30 1/2 (to effect a minor internal repair) and was proud of myself for not denting the wood and not having to re-sight in on the eve of opening day. What old Eagle Eye here didn't notice was that I did manage to bend the base of the sight up enough to cleanly miss a broadside shot at a 75 yard deer. Nothing like sighting in your rifle in the woods, using candy bar wrappers stuck to trees, on opening day. That also taught me the value of always having an auxiliary folding leaf rear sight on the barrel too.
