Be careful up there, stay on the marked trails please. When lake of the woods claims the lives of fishermen or snowmobilers is most often up at the angle. lots of bad ice up there so don't go blazing your own trail.

(I'm sure you know this)

That being said, it's beautiful up there. I'm due for a trip up there myself.

Where are you staying?

Oh, yep. Rooster Jim turned me onto that site. I don't go on it very often.

Ya got the boot eh? I got the boot from Walleye Central for using the name Heywood Jablome. grin Someplaces it works, some it don't.

I must be much less "crass" since I got released from the band trip a week earlier than ND.
I think there is a bit of unfair "profiling" going on in that site by picking on the more crass people.

Hey White Bear, How's it goin' man?

I have a question for you. How do you like your 12v ice auger? How long does it last for you?

I used one last weekend it I wasn't real impressed, tho something might be f'd with the battery. I started with a 100% battery and drilled 8 holes. The batterey was then down to 20% capacity. Is that what you've been seeing?

It is my step dad's and it was the second time it was used. He drilled 2 holes before that, so not much of a test.

I made an extension cord to hook it directly to a vehicle or my battery bank in the house & that works very well. It still won't touch my gas auger for speed & power but it gets the job done without the smoke. If I leave the vehicle running it is even better as the voltage is around 15v.
It works well to poke a couple extra holes if someone shows up for a visit. (Can I talk like that here? I'm a little gunshy now.) I wouldn't depend on it with just the supplied battery & never leave home without my old Jiffy. Fastest drilling "stock" auger on the ice.

Just to help even the odds a bit, I won't tune up the blade or put fresh gas in it for the races.

I totally understand why you use that electric. It would take a while to clear the fumes out of that house of yours after drilling 40 holes. smile

I also have NO intention of having a "shack" like yours so I'll be good to go with the gas auger.

btw...you won't get any flack from me for drilling a few extra holes. grin Can't fault a guy for that.

Dave, White Bear, Colorado, Uncle Dusty all entered in the "Hot Auger" competition. NW Division.

I'll be over at the bar judging the wet sweatshirt competition.

Yeah the 9-1/2' high ceiling takes a while to clear out. Most times after the holes are drilled in the house I'll fire up the old Jiffy & knock the bottom out of a few outside just to get it out of my system. It sure is fun to drill with! grin

Why not have a shack big enough for you, the family, & half of your friends to spend a few days fishing in? Kinda like deer camp on the ice!

Give me a few days notice to prepare & it's on! That is if you're into drinking beer, catching limits of fish, & cruising the lake in track sheenry.
