I just read a post over at Shooter's on their handgun reloading board. It posted a link to a site that says that IMR shotgun powders, and 800X, may be unstable when loaded to pressures over 20,000 psi.
<br> Apparently Speer has knowledge of a pistol being destroyed by such a load.

Emericus, I've read similar info. The only powders tested by a factory over a broad pressure range are the Alliant double based powders. From Bullseye on up the results are known. The IMR's mentioned are not tested for use other then specific cartridges.
